As we have a pool of assembly specialists with different skills, the FIFA 2006 was a welcome challenge for us. For two years, the DFB football globe was assembled and disassembled by the Membranteam in a total of 8 cities. In addition to the installation of 29 three-layered pneumatic foil cushions and the two-part steel ridge field, the scope of activity included the installation of the air conduction, the sealing of the construction, and the installation of the gutter heating.

The installation of foil, glass, or in this case aluminium is our speciality. Triangular sheets of aluminium were laid across the supporting structure (also made of aluminium) and fixed with clamping profiles. Subsequently, the edges of the completely installed dome were lifted and placed on the tank.

This very particular building task could also be realised without effort thanks to our experience. The courtyard, which was set between six flat-roofed buildings, was covered with a membrane that was suspended from two 18m high, articulated main pylons in the centre of the square. In order to do this, first of all, all the dangerous rough edges on the buildings were covered in order to protect the membrane. The edge anchoring devices were installed between the buildings and attached to them.

The Membranteam is also a sought-after partner for professional special installation outside of Germany. In Ankara, between one-storey buildings, 5 PTFE-membranes were stretched across a steel construction. Different designs of the sail required that we design different types of membrane.

For this contract, a total of 1000 m² protective nets were hired from our company and were installed together with the respective edge fall safety device on the drying tower in Leutkirch by professional industrial climbers.
